Growing Popularity of Fashion Design Courses

You'll always find people who believe that a degree in medicine or engineering can only help you earn good money. They believe that other courses, especially in arts, are of no use, as they do not open many growth and career opportunities. However, this is not true at all, especially in today's time. Students with degrees in fine arts, history, fashion and design are also making good money, at times even more than that of an engineering degree holder. Nowadays, career in fashion and design has emerged as one of the popular professions among youth. More and more students are taking up courses in fashion and design right after completing their 10+2.

In India, you'll find a number of fashion design colleges offering degree and diploma programs at graduate and post graduate level. These programs are specifically designed, keeping in mind the requirements of the ever changing fashion industry. They have a comprehensive curriculum which prepare students for the exciting and challenging fashion world. During the course, students not only learn the basics, but also get a chance to sharpen their technological skills. They learn about the fashion software tools, programs and 3-D models which have become quite popular these days.Practical knowledge and experience on these computer graphic programs, significantly increase chances of getting a good job.

One such institute from where you can do you degree in fashion is the footwear design & development institute in Delhi. It is known for its excellent infrastructure, faculty and placement record. Every year, thousands of students come here to take admission in various degree and diploma courses offered by the institute. Once completing the course from here, students can work in a leading design firm, with well-known designers of the fashion industry. They can also open their own boutique if they feel like.

International Institute of Fashion Design & Career in Fashion

I guess a creative person has all the signs of being creative right from his childhood. It is like they tell you with their little activities what they are going to be while they grow up. I have seen this evidently in case of my sister who is now an established fashion designer. Back then, when we used to be young there was not much of a hype about the careers in fashion. In fact, the idea was rather new. My sister was always creative in her approach and interested in fashion in her own way! If your child too shows these signs, then you might as well be a parent to a renowned fashion designer one day!

My sister would make use of old clothes in making something else. She learnt the basics of knitting at her craft lessons and she was fond of stitching used clothes into making a new scarf or skirt! We used to be started at the sense of design in a girl of 10 but, we could never figure out that is something she would be exceptionally good at and build a career out of it!

During our growing years, she was the one who used to decide who is going to wear what to a party- or to any outing for that matter! And she was impeccable every time! If you see your teenage dictating what to wear to you, then watch out for that future Ralph Lauren!

She was eagle eyed when it came to spotting a wardrobe malfunction. For example a missing button or a mismatched shoe! She used to frown upon such things and make sure everything was perfect. We thought it was her OCD, but the truth was clear when she topped her batch in International Institute of Fashion Design and set out to be a successful designer!

Extra-Ordinary Fashion Designing Course & Top Fashion Schools

Despite the advancement the fashion industry has observed in the last decade, many people in India still seem to consider fashion designing as the most obvious and perhaps the only career option in the industry. Glamour, clothes, models, page 3 parties etc. are things that immediately cross people’s minds when one talks of the fashion industry. While those are integral elements, there is much more to do and learn in the sector. Apart from the most obvious fashion designing course, fashion institutes offer courses in leather design, textile design, fashion communication, accessory design, jewellery design and manufacturing, footwear design to name a few. And while the courses may seem like a piece of cake, they are highly demanding which require students to be absolutely committed, passionate, and disciplined.

From an apparel and/or accessory designer, fashion editor, fashion consultant to a celebrity stylist, merchandiser, retail expert- there are so many options you could choose from if only you have a strong inclination towards the role as well as creative ideas and ability to put them on paper or computer. In fact, with so many fashion applications in the virtual market today, the fashion industry is expanding even further to encompass a variety of roles that could not be even imagined of earlier.

However, it is imperative that you complete your fashion education from one of the top fashion schools in the desired field first. Rigorous training would help you identify your strengths and work on your weaknesses. It will also help bring out your creative side and give you a push in the right direction. The detailed courses would ensure that your basics are in place and help you build upon those basics. Fashion education from a top school is challenging and you will have to prove your mettle to not only get good opportunities in the future, but to even survive in the fashion school. The road to success in fashion would be eventful and difficult, but in the end you would realise that it was worth it!
